A Lifetime of Bags, One Final Goodbye
I started making bags 36 years ago, in a small atelier with one cutting table and a borrowed sewing machine. I was tired of two things: bags that looked beautiful and cost a month's salary, and bags that cost little and fell apart by spring. I wanted to make the bag I couldn't find, one that looks like it came from a designer house, feels light on the shoulder, and doesn't ask you to choose between style and your budget.
Early on I made a decision I never went back on: no animal leather. It took years to find a vegan leather that was soft, waterproof and tough enough to carry a laptop every day, but when I found it, Morelisa became what it is. Thousands of women have carried these bags to work, to class, on planes and to dinner, and told me they finally stopped looking for "the one".
Now it is time to close the atelier. I am not leaving because the bags stopped selling, I am leaving because 36 years is a good, full chapter, and I want to end it the way it started: with care, and with every last bag going to someone who will love it.
